Regional Tournament Recap:

Game 1:   Northwest  8   W Warwick RI  5
 

Nashua NW beat West Warwick RI 8-5 in the first game on Saturday. Ryan Milliken pitched well. Joe Crowly got the win.  Matt Fortin the save.  Zach Taylor hit a 2 Run-HR to pace the offensive attack.

Game  2:  Northwest 4    Brookfield CT 3

Nashua NW then beat Brookfield CT 4-3 in the second game on Sunday.   Matt Fortin hit a 3-Run HR, Haley Reed with a pinch-hit RBI, knocking in Zach Taylor with the winning run. Jacob Latham had 2 Doubles. Joe Crowley had his second straight win,  Matt Fortin got the save.

 
State Tournament Recap:

Game 1:   Northwest  2   Nashua South 1 (9 innings)
 

Great pitching by both teams.  South was led by Nick Penkala going 6 innings followed by Kyle Anderson.  NW was led by Joey Crowley and Ryan Milliken both going 4 innings.  Matt Fortin getting the win as he completed the 9th inning.  NW trailed 1-0 thru 4 innings.  Bottom 5th Zach Taylor doubled down the left field line, stole 3rd and came home on a passed ball.  In the bottom of the ninth Brendan Robbins doubled to left and scored on a single to right by Evan Richardson.

Game  2:  Northwest 4    Claremont 2 (8 innings)

Another extra inning game Northwest was led by Matt Fortin. Fortin had a 2 run blast in the top of the eight. Fortin came in relief and  pitched 4 scoreless innings.  Other notables Ryan Milliken pitched 2 scoreless innings.  Darrien Jackson singled and scored on a pass ball. In the last two games NW has played 17 innings allowing 3 runs.

Game 3:   Northwest 5     Barrington 1

Today's result an outstanding pitching performance by Ryan Milliken going 4 innings with Joey Crowley pitching the last 2 inning in the win.  The bats came alive with hits by Zach Taylor, Evan Richardson, Spencer Madden, Adam Murphy, Matt Fortin, Jake Latham, and Crowley.  Outstanding defense by catcher Taylor, shortstop Fortin, and second baseman Latham.

Game 4:   Northwest 7      Exeter 1

In the 12U 60' Cal Ripken State Final Northwest 7 Exeter 1. Ryan Milliken started at pitcher and pitched 2 scoreless innings.  Joey Crowley pitched the next 2 2/3 innings letting no earned runs.  Matt Fortin earned the save as he closed the next 1 1/3 innings.  Northwest took a 3-0 lead with Fortin belting a two run home run which was preceded by a double by Evan Richardson bringing in Jake Latham who started the inning with a solid hit to right center.  In the bottom of the fifth the bats came alive as  Latham led off with a single, a double by Fortin scoring Latham, single by Crowley scoring Fortin, single by Brendan Robbin scoring Hailey Reed, pinch hitter Andrew Dwyer doubled bringing in Robbins.  Other keys contributors were the catcher Zach Taylor (1 for 3), 3rd baseman/RF Spencer Madden, right fielder Darrien Jackson (1 for 2), and left fielder Adam Murphy (1 for 2). State results Northwest scored 18 and allowed 5.  Combined results between the District and States Northwest scored 64 and allowed 17.
