Nashua Northwest Baseball President, Frank McNally, presents Anthony Garuti with the 2009 League Most Valuable Player award.

Anthony Garuti wins 2009 League
Most Valuable Player Award!

Major League Orioles All-Star Anthony Garuti was selected as the Nashua Northwest League Most Valuable Player for the 2009 Season.

This past year, Anthony’s stats included a .412 batting average, a .537 on base percentage, and a .863 percentage of putting balls in play at the plate.  He led his team in triples and his very competitive spirit and desire to show up and play hard every day, and work even harder in practice, made him not only one of the most dangerous players at bat, but on the mound, and from behind the plate calling over 75% of the pitches in the games in which he caught.

Often used as a shutdown pitcher, he entered many games in pressure situations often times with the bases loaded and less than two outs.  With a cannon of an arm and pinpoint accuracy, he led the league in throw outs at first, second, and third becoming the most feared Cal Ripken catcher in the City of Nashua.  His class act leadership and ability to accept winning and losing as a true professional have not only earned him the respect of the players in the league, but the coaches and parents as well.

As the recipient of this award, Anthony has also been invited to throw out the first pitch on Opening Day to begin the 2010 Spring season.  Please join us in congratulating Anthony on this tremendous honor and for his hard work and dedication!

11 Year-Old All-Stars win 2009 New Hampshire State Championship!

The Nashua Northwest 11 Year-Old All-Stars captured the 2009 New Hampshire State Championship last night with an impressive 6-2 win over Nashua West.  The win capped an 8-0 Area and State Championship Tournament run and catapulted the team into the New England Regional Championship Tournament which kicks off on August 8th in Oakland, Maine.

Northwest came out swinging in the bottom of the first grabbing an early 3-0 lead.  Backed by continued stellar pitching performances from Ricky Constant, Spencer Bergeron, and Brian Provencher and a spectacular rally ending catch in left field by Andrew Dahl, Northwest was able to stop the streaking Nashua West All-Stars cold.

Brian Provencher was named tournament Most Valuable Player for his solid performance at the plate and lights out pitching.

Under the direction of Manager Dan Latham and coaches Nick Dahl and Brian Provencher Sr., the 11s earned the second Nashua Northwest State Championship title in as many years following the success of the 2008 12 Year-Old All-Stars.

Please join us in congratulating Jack Barnes, Cameron Bennett, Spencer Bergeron, Nick Bourbeau, Evan Conners, Ricky Constant, Andrew Dahl, Jeremiah Latham, Ryan Lawes, Shane Legraw, Trevor Lessard, Brian Provencher, Michael Rogers, Greg Stanton, Manager Dan Latham, Coach Nick Dahl, Coach Brian Provencher Sr., and Batgirl Erika Dahl as the 2009 11 Year-Old New Hampshire State Champions!

Congratulations Nashua Northwest!  We’re so proud of your accomplishments!
